Payroll & Compliance
Labour inspectors are visiting homes and estates across South Africa and checking if employers of domestic workers are compliant with the law. We handle all your compliance matters, so you are never exposed to fines, penalties or legal proceedings.
What non-compliance can cost
R50,000+ in fines, penalties and back-paymentsWhat Labour Inspectors Look For
Every household that employs a domestic worker is an employer in the eyes of the law. Labour laws also apply to employers of domestic workers. These are the four areas where domestic employers break the law.
A written contract that meets the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, setting out hours, pay, leave and notice.
A compliant payslip with every statutory detail. A handwritten note is not enough.
Registered with the Unemployment Insurance Fund, with a declaration and payment made every month.
Registered with the Compensation Fund, with a Return of Earnings submitted and paid every year.
The problem gets bigger the longer you wait to address it.
Fines can run to more than R50,000. All of this is avoidable and can be sorted immediately by Domestic Angels.Employment Compliance Check

We register you with the Compensation Fund, file the Return of Earnings each year and request your Letter of Good Standing.

Guidance on discipline, dismissal, restructuring and difficult conversations, grounded in South African labour law.
Wages, UIF, hours and leave set out in writing, so there are fewer misunderstandings on either side.

Questions Employers Ask
Straight answers to the questions household employers ask us most. Anything else, our team is a phone call away.
Yes. Anyone who works 24 hours or more a month must be registered for UIF, and two full days a week is well over that. COIDA registration applies to domestic employers too.
The missed months need to be declared and paid from her real start date, and your UIF and COIDA records must show that date. We calculate what's owed, submit the history to the UIF head office and bring your account up to date. The sooner it's done, the less penalty and interest build up.
Only if your employee earns above the SARS tax threshold, currently about R8,000 a month. Then PAYE must be deducted and paid over monthly. SARS reviews the threshold every year and we keep track of it for you.
On WhatsApp, every pay period. You can see every payslip, leave balance and proof of payment in your online employer portal.
